Futureproof DIDI: Sustainable fashion and e-commerce

Case summary

Summary of collaboration with Didi Fashion and NextChapter eCommerce

About DIDI

DIDI is a well-known and beloved women’s fashion brand in the Netherlands, with a history spanning over 40 years. The brand is recognized for its bold, colorful, and contemporary collections, featuring handcrafted prints, quality materials, and fits that appeal to women of all ages.

Since its relaunch in 2021, DIDI has taken a new direction. In addition to focusing on efficient, customer-oriented production through smaller batch sizes, the brand, originally relaunched as a purely online player (via its own webshop and selected marketplaces), has now also introduced a wholesale strategy. This means DIDI is once again available on the high street! With a compact team and smart technology, DIDI continues to grow the brand efficiently, sustainably, and with a modern approach.

NextChapter’s SaaS model is crucial for our current growth phase. The suite's continuous development keeps us future-proof. It also frees us from technical maintenance, allowing us to focus fully on our core business and ambitions.

Ambitions and challenges

DIDI was looking for a scalable e-commerce solution that could go live quickly and support a multichannel strategy. At the same time, the brand needed a proactive technology partner to assist with ongoing development and specific custom needs—especially since DIDI intentionally operates without an internal IT department.

Paul de Vries, E-commerce Director at DIDI:
“We used to face significant challenges because we were running multiple disconnected systems. This meant we constantly had to rely on different vendors, which was both costly and time-consuming.”

The old setup with separate systems was complex, expensive, and hindered growth. It was time for a solution that was clearer, faster, and future-proof.

What DIDI needed

After its relaunch as an online-only brand, DIDI needed a solid technological foundation to build upon. Rather than piecing together another fragmented landscape of systems and vendors, the brand sought an integrated solution—one that would be scalable, flexible, and manageable, even without an internal IT department.

The primary requirement was a Unified Commerce platform that brings together all essential components: Product Information Management (PIM), Order Management (OMS), Content Management (CMS), and a modern, customer-friendly storefront. By combining these elements within a single SaaS environment, DIDI aimed to achieve operational peace of mind while retaining the ability to adapt and grow quickly.

Speed of implementation was also critical. The new solution needed to go live within a few months, with a fully operational brand shop and integrated marketplace connections.

Seamless integration with existing systems was another key requirement—namely, the ERP system (It’s Perfect), fulfillment partners, ChannelEngine for marketplace connectivity, and various marketing tools.

Finally, the platform had to be flexible enough to support future ambitions, such as launching additional webshops, expanding into international markets, or introducing new sales channels—all without overloading the backend or requiring costly custom development.

The final result

The switch to NextChapter has provided DIDI with a powerful, integrated ecosystem that offers stability, flexibility, and room to grow. In addition, DIDI now works with just one partner and point of contact for both technology and platform development, creating clarity, short lines of communication, and greater control over the entire digital process.

With a stable e-commerce infrastructure in place, the team can fully focus on what matters most: strengthening the brand, optimizing conversion, and driving sustainable growth. The platform’s fashion-specific modules directly support these goals. Smart features like product recommendations, stock urgency indicators, a sticky cart button, and back-in-stock alerts are all designed to showcase products visually and maximize conversion. In this way, DIDI’s digital brand experience is consistently enhanced, from first click to checkout.

Paul: “NextChapter has made a significant difference. The integration of development and project management within a single platform has streamlined our projects and made them more efficient. We now have much more control over progress and can quickly adjust when needed. Compared to previous systems, NextChapter is a major improvement. Its integration, scalability, and ease of use have helped us grow faster and allocate our resources more efficiently.”

What does the future hold?

Looking ahead, Paul shares: “Our next major ambition is to take DIDI cross-border. Thanks to NextChapter’s PIM solution, we should be able to roll this out effortlessly.”
